Video Games

In 2006, Alexander Ovechkin was selected as the main cover athlete for EA Sports (Company)' NHL 07 (Game). He was not used for two releases of NHL 07 (Game): Finnish forward, Teemu Selanne, and Swedish goalie, Henrik Lundqvist, for their respective countries. Ovechkin would make his second appearance on a EA Sports (Company)' NHL game in 2008 as the Russian cover athlete for NHL 09 (Game). He made a third appearance on a NHL game cover in 2009 as the chosen cover athelte for NHL 2K10 (Game). On June 16 2009 Ovechkin would also participate in a outdoor motion-capture session for in Las Vegas. He was joined by fellow NHL player Ryan Kesler and play-by-play commentator Randy Hahn.

Biography

Alexander Ovechkin was born in Moscow in 1985 and was drafted first overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He did not play in the NHL until 2005, however, due to the NHL lockout.

NHL Career

Alexander Ovechkin has averaged over a point per game since entering the NHL and has scored 50 or more goals in a season in all but one of his seasons in the NHL. He is famous for his enthusiasm, intimidating shot, and physical play.

Alexander Ovechkin won a gold medal at the 2008 IIHF World Championships with Team Russia. He also has two bronze medals in the same tournament from previous years. He won a gold medal in 2003 with Team Russia in the IIHF World Junior Championships as well as a silver medal in the same tournament two years later.
