Dr. Ragland inspects the parasite.

Dr. Bradley Ragland originally works for Gentek (Concept) but leaves the company when asked to work on the Blacklight virus. He later finds work at St. Paul's Hospital.

When the Blacklight outbreak is confirmed on Manhattan Island, Dr. McMullen of Gentek sends some of the first humans killed by the disease to Dr. Ragland in the hope that he will again work for the corporation, if not officially. Ragland refuses to aid Gentek, but the bodies arrive anyway. General Randall receives word of McMullen's actions and has the bodies relocated to a military base.

Through these events, Alex Mercer learns of Dr. Ragland and his disagreements with Gentek. Mercer sees a potential ally in Ragland and meets with the doctor in the morgue. Working together, Ragland teaches Mercer how to more effectively combat the virus and its many forms.
