Kotaro Minami is the protagonist of Kamen Rider Black and Kamen Rider Black RX.

A mystery cult named Gorgom controls the earth since ancient times. Every 50000 years, this organization selects two humans and implants King Stones into them, then let them fight to decide who can be the next leader of Gorgom.

Kotaro Minami is chosen to be a competitor of Gorgom's leader. He has King Stone of the sun which is his power source, allowing him to absorb solar energy to transform into an armored warrior. But after discovering Gorgom do experiments on humans to transform them into half-animal monsters, he believes Gorgom is evil and decides to end their reign.

A metal belt containing King Stone is Kotaro's transformation device. With black armor covering his body after he triggers his Kamen Rider transformation, Kotaro named his rider form "Kamen Rider Black".

Kamen Rider Black RX

Kamen Rider Black's upgrade form after being powered up by solar energy. His belt turns slightly different, grows a heavier black armor partly painted green, and his physical strength is tripled. This transformation permanently becomes his base form, with two more changeable forms and an energy sword "Revolcane" allowing Kotaro to fight stronger monsters.

Roborider

Black RX can change into Roborider with thicker yellow armor, giving him strong durability, and a laser handgun while exchanging some speed.

Biorider

Black RX can also change into Biorider with blue armor and the power to liquefy the body to phase through objects and neglect attacks.
