Luna is a close friend to Harry Potter, Ron, and Hermione and is known for her dreamy, far-off behavior.

Often referred to as Loony Lovegood by other students at Hogwarts because of her often strange behavior, Luna is very smart and was put in the Ravenclaw house because of it. Her father's name is Xenophilius Lovegood and is the editor of The Quibbler. Her mother died when Luna was just nine years old in a freak accident.

Early Life

Luna was born in the year 1981, the exact month and day are unknown. Since her mother passed away she was raised by her father alone. She first attended Hogwarts in 1992 and was sorted into the RavenClaw house. Luna's first person she met and became friends with was Ginny Weasley. She didn't befriend Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley until her fourth year.

During her fourth year Luna becomes friend with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. they invited her to join Dumbledore's Army in which she accepts. During her time in the "Army" she gets taught how to use offensive magic. She aids Harry and friends on the attack against Voldemort in Department of Mysteries, in hope of retrieving Harry's Prophecy. She was physically hit by one of the Death Eaters while on the floor, she then conjured a spell in which that Death Eater went flying across the Department. At the end of the year she consoles Harry about the death of his Godfather, Sirius Black. They then speak about Luna's dead mother and how she will once again see her, in which Harry found that very comforting.
