Overview
An Arcanist who was born and raised in the British Raj (UK-occupied India) in the early 20th Century, Ada Tennant was born into a wealthy family thanks to her father's ties to the British government, placed in charge of diamond mining and transportation. However, one day in 1937, the British Crown called for his arrest after he was suspected of turning a batch of diamonds bound for Britain into coal using arcanum. Both he and Ada went missing from that day and have yet to be found. However, Ada Tennant has taken on a life of crime to support her formerly lavish lifestyle, showing up in various locales to transform diamonds into coal or vice-versa in order to trick merchants into paying her handsomely for product that she has no intention of delivering on, then fleeing before they realize they've been swindled.
Gameplay
Tennant is a 5* arcanist of the Beast Afflatus. Her skills make use of her alchemy with diamonds, firing a gun with special gunpowder that allows her to transmute diamond-tips into her bullets mid-flight, dealing Reality damage. She can also give her entire party a diamond shield for one turn with her other skill. Her Ultimate skill deals a lot of Reality damage to a single target and gives herself 2 [Diamond Bullet], which weaken the Reality defense of her next two targets for two rounds.
Trivia
Tennant is reportedly an homage to 18th Century British chemist Smithson Tennant. Among his achievements, he proved that charcoal and diamonds were both combustibles that came from the same family of carbon. He would also discover the elements Iridium and Osmium. The mineral Tennantite, discovered about 4 years after Tennant's death, would become named in his honor.
