Degraded Boss

CONCEPT

A boss character in a game which shows up again later as a regular enemy.

Overview

Degraded bosses can come in two forms. Either they will show up again later as enemies in a weaker state to be defeated more easily, or, due to the player upgrading their weapon arsenal or strength, will appear later as enemies in the same state or even stronger than they originally were. An example of a degraded boss is the Sheegoth in Metroid Prime (Game). After first being encountered as a boss on its own, later trips to Phendrana Drifts will uncover multiple Sheegoth within the same rooms for the player to defeat with their upgraded beam-weapon arsenal.
