The Destroyers are fiery, nearly mindless creatures who seek to clear the Depths of Tyria of all life in order to prepare for the Great Destroyer's arrival.

Within the Guild Wars franchise Destroyers are known to be immune to burning and be highly armored against any form of fire damage. In turn however they are also weaker then normal to cold damage. Destroyers are flesh based creatures contrary to their stone based appearance. Destroyers do not have any healer profession even though they have a wide variety of other professions.
Originally Destroyers were called "Tanneks" however this larger changed.
