The Special Tasks Group (STG) consists of salarians who specialize in espionage, sabotage, and other types of covert warfare.

Special Tasks Group units are usually deployed by the Citadel Council (Concept) to perform covert operations including, but not limited to, assassinations, infiltration, and sabotage. The STG puts a heavy focus on gathering intel rather than charging blind into a fight.    In Mass Effect (Game), Commander Shepard heads to Virmire to investigate Saren'sactivities there. He meets up with Captain Kirrahe (Character), who leads a STG unit into Saren's base.
