The "thumbs down" is a hand gesture widely used and viewed as a sign of disapproval, failure, or condemnation. In some games, icons depicting a thumbs down may be used as a visual guide indicating that a challenge or goal has not been met. Other times, it may be used by a character within the context of the story. Notably, in the Galactic Federation (Concept) of the Metroid (Franchise) universe, soldiers in the GF Army commonly use the thumbs up as a sign of approval following mission briefings. Samus Aran (Character), on the other hand, met such orders with a rebellious attitude and typically signaled a thumbs down.
