Overview
Astra Superstars is a 2D fantasy fighting game developed by Santaclaus (Company) and released by Sunsoft (Company) for arcades (using Saturn (Platform)-based Sega ST-V hardware) exclusively in Japan on June 6, 1998, with a home release on the Sega Saturn on August 6, 1998.
Similar to Taito's 1995 game Psychic Force (Game), Astra Superstars is an airborne-based fighting game where both combatants float in the air at all times. The game is known for its simplistic movelists (with minimal joystick command input), its "Star Rank" system, and its pre-fight Story dialogue (where players choose from three options, affecting their opponent's difficulty in the process).
