Overview

The game was first published in 1984 in the UK/EU by Creative Sparks (Company) for the Commodore 64 as Countdown to Meltdown at full price. In the USA it was published a year later for both the C64 and Apple II by Activision (Company) as Countdown to Shutdown because Activision felt the original title was too negative. In 1986 Mastertronic re-released it at a budget price on their M.A.D. label in the UK again as Countdown to Meltdown.
