At BlizzCon 2026, it was announced that Diablo V would have more classes than any previous game in the series. Diablo IV (Game) had a total of nine.

Diablo V was announced during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon in Anaheim, California on September 12, 2026. A teaser trailer was shown, which focused on Sanctuary being on fire and that the Lord of Terror, Diablo (Character), had returned. It was given a Spring 2029 release date.
