Overview
Heretic + Hexen is a dark fantasy first-person shooter compilation developed by id Software and Nightdive Studios and published digitally by Bethesda for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 7, 2025.
Similar to the 2024 compilation DOOM + DOOM II, Heretic + Hexen is an enhanced re-release of the first two entries in Raven Software (Company) and id Software's Heretic (Franchise) series (Heretic (Game) and Hexen: Beyond Heretic). Powered by Nightdive's KEX Engine, this features improved performance and graphical options, cross-platform and split-screen multiplayer, modern controller and accessiblity options, an optional arranged soundtrack (from Andrew Hulshult), community mod support, and bonus concept art.
Along with the original and "Shadow of the Serpent Riders" episodes of Heretic and both the original and the "Deathkings of the Dark Citadel" episodes of Hexen, all of which can be played with updated level designs and gameplay mechanics, the compilation features two all-new episodes, one for each title ("Faith Renewed" for Heretic, and "Vestiges of Grandeur" for Hexen).
