Overview

Hoyle Official Book of Games: Volume 3 (also known as Hoyle Volume III) is a digital board game collection developed and published by Sierra for MS-DOS and Amiga computers in 1991. The third game in Sierra's Hoyle (Franchise) series of licensed parlor games (and the sequel to Hoyle Official Book of Games: Volume 2 - Solitaire), Volume 3 features digital adaptations of six board games (Checkers (Concept), Backgammon (Concept), Dominoes (Concept), Yacht (Concept), Snakes & Ladders, and Pachisi (Concept)) with a new and improved game engine (including improved VGA graphics). Returning from the first game are unique AI opponents that give the illusion of playing against an actual opponent through the use of scripted dialogue (with characters shown from the bust-up). However, the game features less character interaction, unique mannerisms, and idle animation. The roster of characters is now composed solely of guest characters from other Sierra games.
