Hytale
Hytale is an upcoming standalone voxel sandbox game developed by the creators of the Hypixel Minecraft server. Announced in 2018, the development studio was obtained by Riot and was in development for roughly six years before cancellation in 2025. Later that year, the studio head reacquired the rights to the IP and resumed development.
Overview
First announced on December 13, 2018, via a trailer which was also promoted on the Hypixel Minecraft (Game) server, Hytale was planned to be a voxel-based sandbox RPG. After announcement, regular development updates were posted to the Hytale website from 2018 to 2020. On April 16, 2020, it was announced that Hypixel Studios had been acquired by Riot Games. Beginning in 2022, development updates slowed to a handful a year. On June 23, 2025, it was announced that development of Hytale was cancelled and that Hypixel Studios would be "winding down". On November 17, 2025, Hypixel's cofounder Simon Collins-Laflamme announced that he had acquired the rights to the game from Riot and that development would be resuming with a rehired team of 30.
