3rd person action RPG, set in Hethereau, the player plays an appraiser that explores the vast open world and fights hostile forces as they advance through the story.

An Appraiser (known as "Zero" by default) with amnesia appears one day during a massive supernatural event and manages to nullify it with their mysterious power. Shortly afterwards, they are hired by the Bureau of Anomaly Control and sent to live and work with a small shop called Eibon, a group that appraises and contains or nullifies supernatural anomalies of different kinds. All the while operating in the bustling city of Heatherau. Gaining new allies through gacha, blazing through the city in a souped-up car, building up their own prestige. In addition to driving around Heathereau in their car, the Appraiser (or your controlled character) can also traverse the city by climbing up buildings, fences, and other surfaces like Spider Man, glide safely down to the ground.

NTE is an attempt at a omnigame where the player can do a ton of different activities aside from the main story: Play with a claw machine. Go fishing. Buy and customize a car and then dominate the local racing scene. Invest in a cafe (with a one-time fee and not a loan with a buttload of interest you'd have to pay in real life as some schlub with amnesia walking in off the street) staff it with your party members, and customize that too while earning some passive income from it. Buy some real estate (see previous comment) and fill it with furniture and tchotchkes you can buy or acquire through the game, and invite another party member over to hang out. Play mahjong at a maid cafe and win prizes.

The Appraiser can also gain infamy by doing crimes like stealing an item from a shop or attacking civilians, and if they are arrested, have to spend time in prison. Though strangely the game makes it impossible to run over other people in your car or hijack most civilian vehicles.

All playable characters have three main moves in combat: a basic attack, a reposte attack, and an ultimate technique. The latter two have a cooldown of around 10-15 seconds, but are unique to each character in how they act. Each character is also sorted into one of six elemental affinities and when two of those affinities are adjacent to each other, swapping in the other character can be used to launch a powerful attack and parry an enemy's stronger technique with the right timing.
