Overview

Nitro Gen Omega is a turn-based tactical RPG developed and published by DESTINYbit. The game involves players managing the four-person crew of a giant mecha as they take on mercenary jobs on a post-apocalyptic continent plagued by giant robots that have gone rampant.

The game's turn-based battles involve players placing down actions on a linear video-editor style timeline. Each crew member has a different set of abilities, and can only go once per turn. Enemy moves are only partially visible to the player, and they must anticipate what the enemy will do to counteract their actions. At the end of each turn the whole timeline then plays out as like a cut scene, showing the player and enemy actions and their consequences.

The game also involves crew management. Players can recruit new crew members and train them to develop new attributes and abilities. Relationships that develop between crew members such as close friendships or rivalries can also lead to them developing new attributes. Players can also customize their mecha by buying or salvaging new parts or whole chassis, and installing a variety of weapons.

The game launched in Early Access with a free roam sandbox mode as its main mode, while the full release added a story campaign.
