Overview

Pikmin 4 is a sci-fi fantasy real-time strategy game developed by Nintendo EPD (Company) and published by Nintendo (Company) for the Nintendo Switch (Platform) on July 21, 2023.

The fourth main installment of the Pikmin (Franchise) series and the sequel to Pikmin 3 (Game), Pikmin 4 follows a customizable recruit of the intergalactic Rescue Corps sent to a remote Earth-like planet in order to rescue their shipwrecked compatriots (after their botched attempt to rescue Captain Olimar (Character)), overcoming challenges using the titular Pikmin (Concept) creatures.

New features include an animal companion (Oatchi the Rescue Corps Rescue Pup), new Pikmin species (including cyan Ice Pikmin and green Glow Pikmin), new multiplayer modes (including asymmetric co-operative multiplayer and a competitive "Dandori Battles"), and new types of missions (including Night Time Expeditions).

The game was considered vaporware at some points, as it was first confirmed to be late in development by Shigeru Miyamoto (Person) in 2015.
