Roland Ahoy!
Developed by Computersmith and released by Amsoft in 1984 Roland Ahoy! features a pirate Roland who must sail the seven seas in search of treasure.
Gameplay
This early Roland game sees the player controlling a pirate ship on a map of the ocean, players must navigate the waterways while avoiding the sea monster and other obstacles, the goal is to reach one of the handful of locations on the map such as the golden harbour or the treasure cave. When the player moves close enough to one of these areas the game transports Roland to a 2d platforming section in which you must avoid the various traps, collect the treasure and return it to your ship without getting killed.
