Overview
Sargon 4, also known as Sargon IV, is a digital chess game developed and published by Spinnaker for DOS PCs and Macintosh computers in 1988.
The fourth installment of the Sargon series of chess games, and the sequel to Sargon III (Game), Sargon 4 features an updated AI chess engine and a revamped graphical interface with both 2D and 3D boards:
- The PC version features full graphical support for VGA, EGA, and CGA displays (rather than the text-based graphics of its predecessor), including digitized versions of a real chess set.
- The Mac version features a variety of monochrome and color chess sets, as well as a dedicated graphics editor. However, it doesn't include the same multi-window system as its predecessor.
Graphical Chess Sets (PC)

CGA has White/Cyan & Cyan/Pink pieces (on the "cool" palette) or Yellow/Green & Green/Red (on the "warm" pallette) on four different boards (cyan/pink/green/yellow and black).
2D

- EGA - White & Black pieces on either a "Warm" light red/dark red board or a "Cool" cyan/blue board.
