Overview

The Dark Half is a supernatural-horror point-and-click adventure game developed by Symtus (Company) and published by Capstone for DOS PCs in 1992. A video game adaptation of the 1989 Stephen King novel of the same name, as well as its 1993 film adaptation (which had its release postponed for years), The Dark Half is set in a small Maine (Location) town and puts players in control of writer Thad Beaumont (portrayed in the film by Timothy Hutton) as he investigates a series of brutal murders that he shares a strange connection with (involving his pseudonym George Stark, who has apparently come to life), all while trying to establish his innocence with the police.

Gameplay

It is a ScummVM-esque point and click adventure game that is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. Although the mechanics of the game are very similar to many adventure games released around the same time from LucasArts, it is possible to die / be arrested in the game, bringing your adventure to an early finish.

Trivia

The game was infamous for its forced mouse-based interactivity, confusing adventure game design choices, and a plot adaptation that's riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies.
