Overview

Trivial Pursuit, sometimes known as Trivial Pursuit Arcade, is a quiz-based board game developed and released by Bally Sente (Company) for arcades in 1984. The first video game adaptation of the real-life board game of the same name, Trivial Pursuit tasks players with moving around a game board, answering trivia questions based on where they land. Unlike the original board game, this adaptation makes use of a square 8×8 board, with each of the four corners representing a special category space, and instead of using round playing pieces, the game gives each player a different character to play as (Baron von Rightoften, Billie Genius, Cleofactra, and Smartacus). In addition, the game asks its trivia questions as a series of true-or-false questions. Like the original, players must collect all four wedges (by solving the question in each category space) to win the game. The game was released in several different editions based on the included trivia content, including All Star Sports Edition, Baby Boomer Edition, Think Tank Genus Edition, Genus II Edition, and Young Players Edition. A Spanish edition of the game was released in 1987. It is now an extraordinarily rare arcade game, with one of the only cabinets in existence found at the Funspot in Weir's Beach, New Hampshire.
