Overview

Universal Studios Theme Park Adventure, known in the cover art as Universal Studios Theme Parks Adventure and known in Japan as Universal Studios Japan Adventure, is a mini-game collection developed by Nai'a Digital Works and published by Kemco (Company) for the GameCube (Platform) in Japan on December 7, 2001, in North America on December 18, 2001, and in Europe (as a launch title) on May 3, 2002.

A video game tie-in to the opening of the Universal Studios Japan theme park in Osaka (Location), Universal Studios Theme Parks Adventure has players exploring (and cleaning up) the park while playing mini-games based on its rides and attractions (all of which also appear in either Universal Studios Hollywood or Universal Studios Florida).

Several of its attractions are based on licensed film franchises, including Back to the Future (Franchise), E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jaws (Franchise), Jurassic Park (Franchise), Backdraft and Waterworld. Woody Woodpecker (Character) serves as the player's tour guide, and several other characters (including Universal's cartoon and horror film characters) appear as NPCs.

Gameplay

Your objective in the game is to ride all the attractions and get a stamp certifying that you have done so; if you do great you'll receive a red stamp, do poorly and you'll get a blue stamp. While walking around you will also stumble upon park goers who need help. From retrieving a lost cell phone to picking up trash, this game has all the fun activities that you'd wish to do at a theme park.

You are introduced to the game by Woody Woodpecker (Character) and you can exchange points with him to buy items. You obtain points by doing favors with park goers and picking up trash and throwing it away among other tasks. You also get points by finding letters similar to Donkey Kong Country (Game), in which you collected the letters that spelled out KONG. Here you collect the letters that spell out Universal Studios.

There are stamps for seven attractions and the last one for finding all the letters to spell out Universal Studios. Once you have collected all stamps you are able to talk to Woody Woodpecker and see Hollywood Magic, regardless of what color stamps you received. Hollywood Magic is simply a CG video capturing everything the park had to offer and then cutting to credits.

Attractions

All of these mini-games grant points when completed, which can be used to buy themed headwear (which can be used to bypass lines at the theme's attraction). Most of these attractions grant a blue stamp (or "badge") when completed, which are used for clearing the game. Red stamps are given on exceptional performance.

Jurassic Park: The Ride - A third-person on-rails shooter where you shoot various dinosaurs pursuing your jeep using a laser gun mounted on its back. Similar to games like Panzer Dragoon (Game), you can charge-up your shots to automatically lock-on to multiple enemies (firing a barrage of homing shots). There is also a quick-time event.
Back to the Future: The Ride - An on-rails car combat game where, in a flying time-traveling DeLorean, you chase and bump into another DeLorean stolen by Biff Tannen (Character) in order to bring him down within the time limit.
Backdraft - A third-person action game where you navigate a burning building, extinguishing flames with firefighting gear and rescuing trapped civilians within the time limit. You must dodge a variety of explosions hurled at you (where they can heal by collecting hearts), and can speed up extinguishing using limited-use fire extinguishers.
E.T. Adventure - A belt-scrolling bike riding game based on the film's climactic scene (of returning the titular E.T. to his spaceship). Similar to Excitebike (Game), you must dodge various obstacles, use speed pads, and maintain your balance on ramps in order to reach the end within the time limit.
Jaws - A third-person action game where you move around the Orca, following the titular shark with your radar in order to throw barrels and crates at him before he destroys sections of the boat.
The Wild, Wild, Wild West - A simple Old West themed shooting gallery that can be played in either single-player (against a CPU opponent) or in two-player multiplayer, in a best-of-three match.
Animation Celebration - A collection of three simple mini-games that you play with Winnie Woodpecker (Character). These include a quiz game (which involves very obscure trivia on various Universal films), a sliding puzzle game, and a concentration card game. Ten questions must be correctly answered in the quiz game to unlock the other two. These can be played in two-player multiplayer.
Waterworld - A series of pre-rendered CGI videos showcasing one of the stunt show's key stunts: a seaplane "crash landing" in front of the audience. The videos are shown from five differerent angles (showing five seating arrangements in the audience) and is no more than ten seconds long. This is the only attraction that does not give the player a stamp, and is closed at night.

Characters You Can Shake Hands With

While walking around the park, you might come across "popular characters you might know" that you can shake hands with. Doing so will result in the accumulation of points; you get around one thousand points once every time you shake someone's hand. This is a list of mascots you can shake hands with in alphabetical order.

===Knothead===

Knothead is another woodpecker, he is the brother of Splinter and the nephew to Woody Woodpecker.

===Splinter===

Splinter is the niece of Woody Woodpecker and the sister to Knothead, and a rather obscure character.

===Wolfman===

The Wolfman is the star of his own movie, that Universal put out in 1941.
