Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a deliberately-retro sci-fi dark fantasy first-person shooter developed by Auroch Digital (Company) and published by Focus Entertainment (Company) for the PlayStation 5 (Platform), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One (Platform), PlayStation 4 (Platform), Nintendo Switch (Platform), and PC (Platform) on May 23, 2023.
Set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Boltgun features a '90s-era, sprite-based, fast-paced first-person shooter style ("boomer shooters") and puts players in the role of one the series' signature warrior-monk Space Marines. It also serves as a spin-off of the 2011 game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, set years after that game's events in the same Forge World (Concept) of Graia (Location).
The game puts players in the role of Malum Caedo (Character), a Sternguard Veteran of the Ultramarines (Concept) chapter sent to Graia to retrieve a power source that has allowed the forces of Chaos (Concept) to invade through a Warp rift. When his squad's drop pod crash-lands on planetfall, Malum is the last surviving member and must carry on the mission alone.
It later received an expansion DLC on June 18, 2024. Known as Forges of Corruption, it features a new five-level campaign with new enemies and weapons.
