It is a direct adaptation of the competitive board game Warhammer Underworlds, itself set in the "Age of Sigmar" setting of the high-fantasy Warhammer (Franchise) universe. Players choose from several "warbands" (small groups of elite infantry units), and maneuver them around a hexagonal-grid board as they earn glory by eliminating opponents, capturing objective points, and fulfilling their secret objectives. The game utilizes a deckbuilding system, allowing players to customize both their Power Deck (for upgrades and abilities) and their Objective Deck (for secret objectives).
