Overview

Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions, stylized as Wreckless: ThE YaKuza MisSiOns and known in Japan as Double-S.T.E.A.L, is a comedic over-the-top driving game developed by Bunkasha Games (Company) and published by Activision (Company) (with the Japanese version published by Bunkasha themselves) for the Xbox (Platform) in North America on February 4, 2002, in Japan on February 22, 2002, and in Europe on March 14, 2002.

In Wreckless, players are tasked with stopping various criminal yakuza activity throughout Hong Kong (Location), with vehicular missions that usually involve recklessly driving and crashing into enemy cars with their own.

The game features two separate storylines, each with their own missions and their own selection of vehicles, with one scenario involving a pair of police officers (Madoka Kazamatsuri (Character) and Mei Ling Yang (Character)) and the other involving a pair of rookie spies (Ho and Chang). Both groups focus on their own efforts to take down the local yakuza and their crime boss, Tiger Takagi.

It later received a conversion by Activision Studios for the PlayStation 2 (Platform) and GameCube (Platform) in North America on November 13, 2002 and in Europe on November 22, 2002. The PS2 version makes use of Traveller's Tales' T-Total engine, while the GC version was ported by Broadsword Interactive Limited (Company), and both feature various updates (including an updated user interface, bonus missions, and both free drive and multiplayer modes).

The game later received a Japan-only sequel in 2005, known as Double-S.T.E.A.L.: The Second Clash.
