Wrestle Kingdom is a wrestling game released exclusively for the Japanese market on PlayStation 2 (Platform) and Xbox 360 (Platform) in December of 2005. It was developed by Yuke's, using a modified version of the engine used for the WWE: Day of Reckoning series. Wrestle Kingdom is known for stradling the line between realistic wrestling simulation and arcade-y action wrestling, taking elements from both subgenres to craft its own persona. The Xbox 360 version of the game suffered a recall when it turned out that the game had issues with saving to the system's internal hard drive.
The stable of playable characters amassed 46 on Xbox 360, and 47 on PlayStation 2. It calls from all three major Japanese wrestling promotions: All Japan Pro Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and Pro Wrestling Noah, as well as freelancers and unaffiliated legends.
