The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a racing circuit located in Montreal (Location), Canada (Location). Established in 1978, its name commemorates Gilles Villeneuve, a legendary Formula One driver from Canada who was killed whilst racing. It is notable for hosting many racing events each year, the most popular event being the Formula One Grand Prix. The track is located on a man-made island called "L'Ile Notre-Dame" and is 4.361 kilometers long. It features a number of intricate, mid-speed chicanes, a scenic hairpin turn, and an infamous final corner. The last corner before the starting line is a tight chicane followed by a wall dubbed the "Wall of Champions", as many drivers have crashed into it through miscalculating the approach into the final chicane. The track is featured in almost every Formula One (Game) game, as well as many other racing games in the genre.
