Rieko Kodama
A game designer and writer involved in designing many Sega classics, ranging from Alex Kidd and Shinobi to Sonic the Hedgehog. She is considered one of the most influential RPG designers in particular, for creating the Phantasy Star series as well as producing Skies of Arcadia.
Rieko Kodama (小玉 理恵子 Kodama Rieko, born May 23, 1963 in Kanagawa, Japan (Location)) (also credited as Phoenix Rie, Phenix Rie, or Phoenix) was a video game designer and writer. She was involved with some of Sega (Company)'s high profile projects, such as Alex Kidd (Franchise), Sonic The Hedgehog, Shinobi (Franchise), Skies of Arcadia (Franchise), and other A-list games. She is perhaps best known for creating the Phantasy Star (Franchise) series, which played a major role in defining the template for console RPG's. Games such as Ninja Princess (Game) and Phantasy Star (Game) were also major milestones for female protagonists in video games.
